Community Meeting on Fix Wilson Yard Coming Up

Due to popular demand, another Fix Wilson Yard community meeting has been scheduled. The next meeting will be held:

The Uptown Historical Society presents “A Day at the Movies in Uptown” on Saturday, April 28 at 1:30 p.m. at Novar Hall in Truman College.

The program will present two features - “Uptown: Portrait of a Movie Palace” a recent documentary on the history of the nation’s grandest movie place featuring stunning footage of the theater. Also on the bill is “Uptown in the Movies” – a lively compilation of classic movie scenes shot in the streets and landmarks of Uptown.

Among the films featured are: “Thief” starring James Caan; “Next of Kin” with Liam Neeson and Ben Stiller; “A Family Thing” starring Robert Duvall; and “Home Alone Two” in which the lobby of the Uptown Theater is transformed into the world’s most spectacular toy store.

Suggested donation is $6 and the program will run approximately 90 minutes.

Please join your neighbors and friends at a fundraiser for the UNC at The Annoyance Theater.

When:  Friday, September 15th - Pre-show hors d'oevers, drinks @ 6:30 PM, Show @ 8:00 PM

UNC Members, supporters and neighbors:

Please mark your calendars and make every effort to attend the 46th Ward Zoning Committee meeting this Saturday, July 29 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Truman CollegeA flyer for the event can be found here.

Your attendance at this meeting is critical to show the Alderman that we want zoning in the 46th Ward that will promote retail development, the arts, and entertainment in the ward.  Zoning is critical to proper urban planning, and by showing our strength, we can work to prevent zoning disasters like Wilson Yard from happening again.

Uptown Clean and Green on May 13

Green_1 It's that time of year to come out and get your neighborhood looking good!  Many local Uptown Block Clubs will be hosting events that clean up the litter and get local gardens ready for summer.

Graceland Wilson Neighbors Association will be hosting a Coffee & Event at Uptown Sweets before heading out to work.
